Internal Grants

Northeastern University’s Colleges and Office of the Provost supports interdisciplinary research through the TIER Awards programs. These awards seek to stimulate exciting new directions in interdisciplinary research and increase the competitiveness of external proposals.

Impact Engines

A new model for 21st-century problem-solving. Impact Engines galvanize and organize interdisciplinary learning, research, and partnerships around solving a challenge or set of challenges, with the goal of maximum impact. Impact Engines span disciplines, colleges, campuses, and industry sectors, connecting diverse communities of problem-solvers around creating measurable change.

Experiential Innovation (NABC)

Northeastern’s Experiential Innovation program introduces a framework for presenting research projects, with the goal of increasing interdisciplinary collaboration and proposal successes rates and fostering high-impact research. The Experiential Innovation program helps research teams identify important opportunities, convert those opportunities into successful new proposals, and produce sustainable research products or innovations.

Runway to Broader Impacts

Northeastern faculty are invited to participate in a peer learning community focused on developing and sustaining research partnerships with non-academic partners for impactful and socially responsible research. Participation is open to faculty in all colleges and at any stage in their careers. Our goal is to share information about resources at Northeastern that can help you navigate extramural partnerships and to provide a forum for interdisciplinary knowledge sharing.
