Shawn Williams
Shawn Williams is the CTO of the Kostas Research Institute (KRI) of Northeastern University. In this role, Shawn is responsible for leading the Technology Team in KRI as well as for developing and realizing the Institute’s growing technology platform.
Prior to joining the Kostas Institute in 2021, Shawn Williams served as the VP of R&D at Rogers from 2013-2020. In this role, he led the Rogers Innovation Centers globally, in partnership with Northeastern University, on their Burlington, MA campus. The Rogers Innovation Centers are focused on the evaluation and assessment Early Stage Development of Technologies with strong Commercial Potential for Rogers’ next generation of product development. Before joining Rogers, Shawn briefly worked as the Senior Manager for Advanced Technology, at Greene, Tweed, a privately held company in the high-performance seals and gaskets that serves the Oilfield, Semi-conductor, and Aerospace Markets. From 2004-2012, Shawn was the VP, R&D at Plextronics, Inc. A printed electronics start-up in that was focused on the development of enabling materials for printed organic solar cells and Light Emitting Diodes and from 1995-2004, Shawn served in various technical and operational roles at the global specialty chemical provider, W. R. Grace & Co. He has over 25 years of experience in developing and managing materials technology. Dr. Williams holds a BS in Chemistry from Geneva College and a PhD in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon.
